Online Presence and use of Information Technology in Worship
During the pandemic, two churches; Holderness Rd and Hedon Methodist Church acquainted themselves with pre-recording services. These continue in a less extravagant form via weekly ‘WOW’ recordings (Worship on a Wednesday) that go live each Wednesday at 7pm. A weekly recording is available and you can subscribe via YouTube or by contacting Hedon Methodist Church or Holderness Rd Methodist Church.
A prayer meeting and bible study is available on line each week and this is a joint venture between Hedon and Sutton Methodist Churches. See church facebook pages for details
In addition, the word ‘Zoom’ was suddenly recontextualized from a colourful word in a comic book, to a means of communication. This investment is here to stay as many folk, previously isolated by geography, family circumstances or personal health, have now opened their doors and welcomed church into their homes. We continue to include some meetings, worship, prayer groups, bible study and fellowship on zoom as part of our mixed economy.
Withernsea offered zoom service and bible study, but these stopped when the Church opened for live services.
Many meetings moved to “zoom” and this is still used for some meetings.
Some Churches have internet connections and many also have digital projectors available for supporting worship.
